The ABA Therapy Process

At Data Driven Educators, our unwavering commitment is to deliver high-quality and personalized home-based therapy tailored for children with autism and related disorders. Our ABA team is composed of dedicated professionals:

Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA): The Behavior Analyst spearheads the process by conducting assessments, formulating comprehensive plans, overseeing the Behavior Technician’s instructions, and closely monitoring your child’s progress.

Assistant Clinical Manager: Collaborating with the Behavior Analyst, the Clinical Supervisor plays a pivotal role in assisting with assessments, plan development, and supervises the Behavior Technician to ensure a continuous and effective therapeutic journey.

Behavior Technician: As the paraprofessional engaged on a regular schedule throughout the week, the Behavior Technician works directly with your child, implementing the tailored plan to foster progress and development. Together, our specialized team is devoted to providing exceptional care and support for your child’s unique needs.

Intake Interview

Our assessment team will first obtain your written consent and gather information about your child, family history, unique behavioral concerns, and situation.

Assessment

The assessor will observe your child and directly assess their skill level through play. You may be asked to perform various tasks to help complete the process.

Behavior Plan Development

Our team will analyze the information obtained from the assessment and write a Functional Behavior Assessment Report which includes a behavior plan and program goals specific to your child’s individual needs. This report will also include the recommended amount of hours that is medically necessary for your child.

Treatment Begins

Once we receive authorization, your family will be matched with a Clinical Team and treatment will begin. The first week is dedicated to building rapport, so it’s normal for the Behavior Technician to just work on establishing a connection with your child. Parent participation is crucial to the success of your child. There will be training to teach strategies on how to prevent and handle behaviors in order to reduce family frustration. Keep in mind, that once behavior Intervention begins, it is normal for behavior to increase before it decreases. However, you will be guided by our team of experts to help you get through those difficult moments and work toward success.

Enhanced Learning and Academic Performance

ABA therapy is effective in education settings as it personalizes techniques based on individual learning styles, breaking down complex tasks into manageable steps while reinforcing positive behaviors. This leads to better performance in learning environments, improving academic concepts, concentration and problem-solving skills.

Reduction in Challenging Behaviors

ABA therapy aims to reduce challenging behaviors like aggression, self-injury, and repetitive actions by identifying their causes, designing interventions, teaching appropriate alternative behaviors, and providing consistent reinforcement.

Skill Development for Daily Living

ABA therapy teaches essential life skills like dressing, grooming, meal preparation, and household chores, breaking them down into smaller achievable steps to promote self-sufficient living, enhance confidence, and foster greater independence.

Generalization of Skills

ABA therapy emphasizes skill generalization. Therapists ensure that new skills are not limited to specific settings but can be applied in various real-life situations. Practicing skills in different environments and with different people helps individuals become more adaptable and versatile.

Increased Parent/Caregiver Involvement and Support

ABA therapy involves parents and caregivers in the process, building stronger bonds and consistency in implementing strategies. Through training and goal-setting, families learn effective techniques to support their loved ones at home and reinforce progress made during therapy sessions.
